Rajkot: Reacting on Cheteshwar Pujara`s inclusion in Test squad against Australia, his father Arvind Pujara said the opportunity is not only a great chance but also a great challenge to prove himself at international level.
"This is a very good chance for Chintu (Cheteshwar) given by the national selection committee and now he has to prove himself at international level against formidable side like Australia," Arvind Pujara told reporters.
Cheteshwar has been selected for two Test series against Australia replacing out-of-form Yuvraj Singh.
"There has always been a very stiff competition for the middle order slot as the country has lot of young and talented batsmen but we all are happy that Chintu has been selected," he added.
"He has been working hard since his childhood and has a dream to play for country now his dream has come true," said senior Pujara who also played Ranji Trophy matches for Saurashtra and Railways as a wicket keeper batsman.
Cheteshwar a right hand prolific middle order batsman who has been playing constantly well in first class cricket for the last couple of season is in Chandigarh playing invitation tournament for Indian Oil Company (IOC), said senior Pujara.
Cheteshwar born in January 25, 1988 has played 45 first class matches with a healthy average of 56.00, he is constantly being compared with Rahul Dravid.
Cheteshwar also holds record of smashing three triple centuries in a span of one month last year, while his unbeaten 302 was his highest score in first class career which was made against Orissa last year at Khandheri stadium.
