James Anderson is England's cricketer of the year

London: England fast bowler James Anderson has been declared as the England cricketer of the year for 2011-12.

"I have been pleased with my performances over the last year and was delighted with the way I bowled on the recent tour of Sri Lanka. I am flattered to win this award," Anderson said in an statement on Monday.

"But I take even greater pleasure from being part of such a successful England team."

Anderson played in 12 Tests during 2011 and bagged 53 wickets in all.

The right-arm pacer has taken 258 Test wickets and currently holds third spot in the ICC rankings.
