Jayawardene rates England most consistent Test team

Dubai: Despite their poor track record in the sub-continent, England are still the most consistent Test playing nation in the world, said former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene.

Jayawardene felt that England is the best Test team at the moment, especially when it is playing at home.

"I think England is the best Test playing nation in their home conditions. They have played really good cricket. I think England have not competed that well in the sub-continent and it`s the thing they have not conquered," said Jayawardene, who is currently featuring in Sri Lanka`s Test series against England.

"England have not managed to beat the likes of India and Sri Lanka in the sub-continent but overall they have been the most consistent Test playing team in the world and it`s a great opportunity for us to come here and challenge them and see where we are as a side," the Sri Lankan batsman said on this week`s ICC Cricket World Radio Show.
