JP Duminy undergoes successful surgery on ruptured Achilles tendon

Sydney: South African batsman JP Duminy has undergone a successful operation on his ruptured Achilles tendon.

Duminy had sustained the injury during a training run gone wrong after the first day of the Gabba Test with the Australians. He will now be off cricket again for the next six months, meaning South Africa will be down one key batsman and off-spinner for this remaining three days of the Gabba Test. According to the paper, Duminy tweeted a photo from his hospital bed of a “get well soon” balloon his South African teammates sent him. “Op was a success and Morphine keeping me in a happy place! sweet of the boys 4 my little gift! Lol #legendaryteammates,” he wrote on Twitter. South African coach Gary Kirsten said it is currently unclear as to which batsman would be called to replace Duminy. “We will bring in another batsman (to the squad). We do not know who that will be yet. There’s nine days between the first and second Tests so we have time, there’s no rush to replace him,” he said. ANI
