Bangalore: Having guided India to a majestic 7-wkt victory over Australia in the second and final Test on Wednesday, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar said that the victory was made sweeter because of the presence of a huge crowd.

Congratulating the entire team for their unrelenting effort, Sachin described the series as a “fantastic one”.

"This series was a fantastic one. I would like to congratulate the whole team, starting from Laxman who helped us win along with Ishant Sharma…also the bowlers,” he said.

Sachin also said that the target was not easy as the ball was behaving a bit unpredictably. He also praised debutante Cheteshwar Pujara for his effort.

“It (chasing the target) was obviously going to be difficult on a track going up and down. Pujara showed tremendous character and his partnership with Vijay was a very crucial one," He added.

Sachin went on to thank the crowd at Bangalore.

“Normally, there is not much crowd for Test cricket, thanks to Bangalore for coming out. You guys made the victory sweeter," Sachin said.

Australian captain Ricky Ponting said that they were completely outplayed in the series.

"We have played reasonably good Test cricket but we were outplayed. We needed to get a few early wickets today, we got one but Pujara and Vijay batted well,” he said.

He too thanked the crowd for their support.

“The crowd here have been fantastic. We would like to thank the crowd for their love and support for Test cricket," he added.
