Bangalore: Hosts Karnataka failed to force an outright win even after enforcing follow-on on Saurashtra as the Ranji Trophy Elite Division Group A match between the two sides ended in a tame draw on Friday.
Even after taking complete control of the match yesterday by reducing Saurashtra to 179 for five in the first innings in reply to their impressive 503 for seven declared, Karnataka failed to bowl out the visitors for a second time today after asking them to bat again.
Following on, Saurashtra managed to save the match by finishing their second innings at 112 for four in 39 overs with Cheteshwar Pujara top-scoring with unbeaten 52.
Earlier resuming at the overnight score of 179 for five, Saurashtra lost rest of their five bastmen for just 81 runs thereby handing Karnataka a huge 243 runs lead in the first innings.
Karnataka, thus, secured three points by virtue of first innings lead, while Saurashtra had to be content with just one point.
