Kerala in a commanding position

Perinthalmanna: Opening batsman V A Jagadeesh`s (117) and Robert Fernandez`s (141) and their 238-runs second wicket partnership helped Kerala to score 393/9 declared and clinch a solid 220 runs lead in their first innings against Jammu and Kashmir in their Ranji trophy Plate league match on the penultimate day.

At draw of stumps Jammu and Kashmir in their second innings were struggling at 59 for 3.

Earlier, resuming at their overnight score of 184/1, both the overnight batsmen Jagadeesh and Robert Fernandez batted brilliantly to complete well-deserved centuries and on way adding 220 runs to put their side in a commanding position.

Jagadeesh struck16 boundaries and a six and faced 230 deliveries, while Fernandez had hit 18 boundaries and a six and had faced 276 deliveries.

For the visitors medium pacer Abdi Nabi was the most successful bowler claiming 5 for 76.

Jammu and Kashmir, batting in their second innings, after the tea break, were tottering at 59 for 3 in 27 overs. Left-arm spinner Sreekumaran Nair took two wickets conceding 2 runs in his five overs.
