New Delhi: Discarded England batsman Kevin Pietersen on Friday blasted 62 off 36 balls to guide Melbourne Stars into the Big Bash League for the first time.
Pietersen's fifty, comprising of five fours and two sixes, helped his side beat the Perth Scorchers by seven wickets.
Right-hander made sure his side didn't stumble in the run chase, as he departed with just 12 needed for the win.
The 35-year-old, who signed a new two-year contract with the Melbourne franchise, has been in superb form of late.
The South African-born batsman has now scored three fifties in eight innings in this year's BBL.
KP has scored 249 runs at an average of 35, with a strike rate of 151.
