Krejza will struggle to make impact in World Cup
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has said that Australian spinner Jason Krejza is going to struggle to make an impact in the World Cup on the subcontinent.
He however tipped Ricky Ponting`s team to reach the semi-finals of the six-week tournament, which begins on Saturday in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Krejza is the only frontline spinner in the world No. 1-ranked Australian squad.
The Tasmania off-spinner has played in just one one-day non-domestic match, which was Australia`s warm-up game against India in Bangalore on Sunday, where he took 1-56, The Age reports.
“Lack of a quality spin bowler is sure to hurt them at some stage. Jason Krejza is a decent bowler but against quality players of spin bowling, he may struggle,” Ganguly said.
“Their attack lacks balance. Also after the warm-up game against India (in which Australia were bowled out for 176 to lose by 38 runs), questions have to be asked about their ability to handle top-class spinners,” he added.
Australia will play six group matches, beginning with a match against Zimbabwe in Ahmedabad on February 21.
