New Zealand 2nd innings

Over 58.2 | Score 195 | (Trent Boult 0)

That's it. It's all over. The Proteas completed an easy win. Stupendous bowling effort from Steyn and co.

Over 51 | Score 164/7 | (Southee 0, Nicholls 67*)

Barring Nicholls, no Kiwi batsman was able to put up any resistance against the SA attack.

Over 35 | Score 95/5 |  (Nicholls 37*, Santner 8*)

Piedt trapped Watling LBW for 32. The Kiwis went in at tea with half their side already back in the hut.

Over 27 | Score 69/4 | (Nicholls 25*, Watling 30*)

This is sensible stuff from Nicholls and Watling. They need a lot of that if this Test is to be saved.

Over 20 | Score 53/4 | (Nicholls 19*, Watling 22*)

The duo has done a commendable repair job so far. It isn't easy considering the SA pacers are coming hard at the Kiwis.

Over 15 | Score 36/4 | (Nicholls 13*, Watling 17*)

After a horrendous start, Henry Nicholls and BJ Watling have done a commendable job so far for the Kiwis. They have added unbeaten 29 runs for the fifth wicket so far. It remains to be seen whether they can pull off a miracle here for the Kiwis. With this being just the fourth day, there is plenty of time still left in this match and these two need to bat for as long as possible.

Over 5 | Score 7/4 | (Nicholls 2*, Watling 0*)

The Kiwi fans would not want to look at the scoreboard now. Guess what? Dale Steyn got South Africa off to a dream start in the second innings when he bowled Tom Latham off the first ball of the innings and scalped Martin Guptill off the last ball of the same over. Before visitors could recover from the shocking start, Steyn trapped Ross Taylor for a duck in his next over. To make matters worse, Vernon Philander joined the party by claiming Kane Williamson's wicket in the fourth over of the innings.

Horrible, horrible start! Kiwis now need a miracle to make a comeback in this match.

South Africa, 2nd innings:

Over 47 | Score 132/7 (declared) | (Bavuma 40, Piedt 0*)

Kiwis finally managed to break the Bavuma-Philander stand when the latter became Tim Southee's third victim. Philander totally misjudged the length of the ball which crashed into his stumps. The wicket ended the 31-run stand for the seventh wicket. Much to the dismay of the visitors, Faf du Plessis did not declare the innings then and the Kiwis had to wait for three and a half more overs for the declaration to come. The reason being, Kiwis now have a formidable 400-run target to chase.

Over 40 | Score 122/6 | (Philander 10, Bavuma 34)

Resuming from 105/6, Philander and Bavuma continued to frustrate the Kiwi bowlers by adding more vital runs for the seventh-wicket partnership. Not to forget, South Africa had lost their sixth wicket at the score of 98 and these two have since added 24 runs. Kiwis need to break this stand as soon as possible.

Dale Steyn put Proteas on top after he dismissed New Zealand openers Tom Latham (0) and Martin Guptill (0) in the first over of the second innings.

It was a horrible start for the Kiwis, who were set a formidable 400-run target.

South Africa declared their second innings at 132/7 earlier in the day. Opener Quinton de Kock was the highest scorer with a 50-run knock while Temba Bavuma scored an unbeaten 40 runs lower down the order.

After being bowled out for 214 runs in comparison to hosts' 481 runs in first innings, New Zealand bowlers brought the visitors back in the game by a spirited bowling performance in second innings. Pacers Trent Boult and Tim Southee dismantled the South African top-order by sharing five wickets between themselves.

At stumps on Day 4, Faf du Plessis and his men were 105 for six, an overall lead of 372 runs on a bowler-friendly pitch.
