New Delhi: It was a rare sight to witness when 12th man of India 'A', Mandeep Singh, came as a substitute fielder for South Africa 'A' on Sunday in the third match of the on-going tri-series.
According to a report published in Sportskeeda, the unusual situation happened because four South African players had indisposed with stomach bugs and cramps during the match.
In fact, the tourists already had their video analyst Hendrikus Coertzen fielding for them when Mandeep landed a helping hand to the visiting team.
Mandeep came onto to field in the 32nd over, when he replaced Quinton de Kock, who scored a magnificent ton earlier in the match.
Mandeep entered the field as the 16th man wearing Eddie Leie's jersey.
The Kings XI Punjab player, was not part of the playing eleven (for India 'A') and hence took to field for the opposition.
28 years ago in a similar incident Sachin Tendulkar fielded for Pakistan for almost 25 minutes in an exhibition game at Mumbai's Cricket Club of India stadium.
