Members allege corruption in Jagmohan Dalmiya's NCC: Report

New Delhi: Members of the National Cricket Club (NCC) on Thursday accused BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya of illegally staying in power and not conducting fair elections at the club.

As per a report in the Hindustan Times newspaper, despite being an affiliate of the Indian board – no notices for AGM have been sent to NCC members for over a decade.

The NCC played a key role in the BCCI elections, as it handed Dalmiya two votes by being a representative of CAB and the NCC.

On Thursday, P Jhawar wrote an email to Anurag Thakur that read:

“For more than 34 years and more, there is no election in the National Cricket Club (NCC). Mr Kamla Prasad Kajaria does the AGM on paper, get himself selected as secretary.”

Jhawar also claimed that no new members have been inducted into the NCC for the last 34 years and those close to Kajaria occupy the positions in the working committee.

Jhawar's email also mentions the lack of transparency in the distribution of 2000-odd tickets received by the NCC for international matches at the Eden Gardens, added the HT report.

Kajaria however denied the allegations made by his fellow members and said he would be sending a legal notice to those defaming him.

The secretary though conceded that the club had not inducted any new members.

“The club is reviewing membership rolls and once that is done, the process to take new members will begin,” he said.
