Misbah blames sloppy fielding for letting Sri Lanka off the hook

Abu Dhabi: Pakistan captain Misbah-ul Haq has blamed sloppy fielding as the key reason for his team’s failure to win the first Test against Sri Lanka in the UAE.

“The only negative from the Test is our fielding. Otherwise bowling and batting had so many positives,” a leading daily quoted Misbah, as saying.

The skipper said that the entire team needed to improve its fielding in order to clinch the three-Test series.

“Pakistan’s fielding has improved over time but we need to improve more, like in batting and bowling. We have been for ages on and off in the field, one day outstanding, other days not so,” he said.

“But we’ve focused and worked hard on this for the last year and a half. The problem still does come up again but we are trying to better it,” he added.

The second Test starts in Dubai on Wednesday.

“We can work hard on fielding, come with more confidence and do well in the second Test,” Misbah said.
