Mumbai: President of Sri Ganganagar District Cricket Association, Mehmood Abdi, today charged the President of the Rajasthan Cricket Association, C P Joshi, of turning a blind eye to the "illegalities" committed by RCA secretary Sanjay Dixit.
The illegalities, according to Abdi who is also the legal adviser of former RCA President and suspended IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi, pertained to disallowing the legally recognized Sri Ganganagar DCA today to field its team in the under 19 tournament conducted by RCA and, instead, allowing a "fake" team to take its place in the event.
In a media statement today, Abdi said his body was the legally recognised district association as per the Supreme Court order dated April 5 following the elections conducted on March 5 and not the rival association floated by Dixit.
Abdi charged that despite knowing his body was the officially recognised one, RCA chief Joshi, who is also a union minister, had allowed the team picked by Dixit`s body to play in the tournament by shifting the venue of the match from the SMS Stadium to the Railway Stadium in Jaipur.
"This amounts to over reaching the Hon`ble Supreme Court Order," Abdi said.
Abdi also claimed that not only his association but other RCA`s district affiliates Jhalore, Banswara and Nagaur, who are perceived to have not voted for either Joshi or Dixit in the RCA election, "are being regularly discriminated and deprived of their rightful place and participation" in the cricket activities of Rajasthan.
