London: England all-rounder Moeen Ali has been revealed as the cover star of this year's Wisden Cricketers' Almanack, the world famous sports book, whose 152nd edition would be released on 9 April this year.

Containing coverage of every first-class game, as well as reports and scorecards for all Tests and ODIs, the Wisden Cricketers' Almanack is colloquially known as the bible of cricket.

Ali would replace retired Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar who graced the front of the 2014 edition, the Mirror reported.

Some Twitter users responded to the news by claiming that the late Australian batsman Phillip Hughes should have been honoured on the cover. Hughes passed away at the end of November after being struck by a bouncer during a Sheffield Shield match.

A tribute to Hughes is expected to have been included in the inside of the book, the report added.
