New Delhi: He has tasted success on many occasions and for Sourav Ganguly, Bengal`s success in the Vijay Hazare Trophy "means more to the youngsters of the team" who are learning to win big events.
"It`s a very sweet moment as this is my first national title as Bengal captain. But more than me, it`s for the boys who have worked really hard. Some of the boys have recently tasted success at the Duleep Trophy and this will mean even more sweeter for them. Some are playing for India already and I won`t be surprised if a few more go on to play for the national team in the future," Ganguly told reporters at the Kotla on Monday.
The former India skipper gracefully put the team forward during photo opportunities standing in one corner. Only when the lensmen insisted, he stood behind in the middle of the row and led the "hip hip hurray" chorus.
Ganguly said that he wasn`t exactly happy with the facilities at the Palam ground but thanked his state association for providing adequate back-up. He did say that he doesn`t want to lead Bengal in any other tournaments.
"I don`t want to lead Bengal in any other tournament," he said. Ganguly however might be persuaded by the CAB to lead Bengal in the knock-out rounds of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 championship in Mumbai where he would get some adequate T20 practice for IPL.
Would you play another first-class season, pat came the reply, "You still want to see me playing."
