Morkel vows to banish his ‘bitter’ no ball demons

Morkel vows to banish his ‘bitter’ no ball demonsSydney: South Africa fast bowler Morne Morkel has said claiming the wickets of Australian batsmen Ed Cowan and Michael Clarke on no ball deliveries in the drawn Gabba Test was a bitter pill to swallow.

South Africa sent down 23 no balls in Brisbane, two of which cost Morkel the wickets of century heroes Clarke and Cowan, who were the heroes for the Australian team in the first Test.

“It`s a bitter pill to swallow, especially as you know the quality of the batsmen. You don`t want to give the guys that extra chance,” News.com.au quoted Morkel, as saying.

“It`s a matter of getting over it and trying to get on with the job. As a fast bowler I back myself. If I can get them out once I can do it twice so I just need to let it go and really focus on the next ball,” he added.

Morkel has been working overtime to shake the no-ball habit, which has been complicated by a 196cm frame and size 14 boots.

“I`ve been used to this sort of thing. At times I`m good with my foot. I don`t know if it`s my long leg or big foot but I`m at times tight on that front line,” Morkel said.

“Obviously it`s a discipline we need as a bowling attack. It`s a controllable. It`s something I`ve been working hard on in my game. The stats show that we`ve been bowling quite a lot over the past couple of Test series,” he added.
