MS Dhoni surpasses Kamran Akmal to create new Asian record!

New Delhi: Even though his home side Jharkhand lost the 2nd Quarter-final of Vijay Hazare Trophy against Delhi, MS Dhoni created yet another record.

Dhoni, who was 70 not out in his team’s total score of 126, broke the record for most number of stumpings in Asian professional cricket when he stumped Delhi’s Shikhar Dhawan to take his count to 208 at the M Chinnaswamy stadium.

The Ranchi-born cricketer surpassed Pakistan’s Kamran Akmal to achieve the feat. Former Sri Lankan keeper Kumar Sangakkara is third on the list with 204 stumpings.

The swashbuckling right-hander has a total of 137 international stumpings to his name – 38 in Tests, 88 in ODIs and 11 in Twenty20s. In international cricket also, he is on the verge of taking the top spot. He is only second in the list behind Sangakkara. The Lankan legend, who announced his retirement from international cricket recently, has a total of 139 international stumpings to his name — 99 in Tests, 20 in ODIs and 20 in Twenty20s.

Dhoni's form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy wasn't great and it remains to be seen whether he can find his rhythm back in the upcoming Australian tour.

Australia will host India for five ODIs and three Twenty20 Internationals in January 2016.
