Sydney: Legendary Sri Lankan spinner Muthiah Muralidaran is gearing up to play against Melbourne Renegades during Cricket Australia``s Big Bash League (BBL) next summer.
Muralidaran, 40, who has taken retirement from international cricket, will be available for the whole tournament. ``”Yes, I``m going to play there next summer,```` Muralidaran told The Age from England, where he is representing Gloucestershire,” The Age quoted Murali, as saying. “It is going to be maybe the last year of mine so I may as well come and enjoy the Big Bash. I am still bowling well,” he added. According to the paper, BBL teams cannot sign players until the contracting window opens on July 9, but Muralidaran claimed that his relationships with Andrew McDonald and Brad Hodge, with whom he has played in India and England, endeared him to the Renegades. Muralidaran retired from international cricket in 2011 with a world record 800 Test wickets and 534 ODI scalps, and has travelled the Twenty20 circuit since. ANI
