In 1997 however, Australian opener Justin Langer played the kind of knock fans are treated to in today's day and age.

The left-hander, representing Western Australia, blasted 84 runs off just 18 balls in an ODI match.

Interestingly, Langer only played 8 ODIs for Australia. He was regarded as a Test cricketer and retired with 105 caps in the whites.
