When asked how he would be able to discharge his dual roles of a cricketer and a parliamentarian, he said, “I did not ask for this. I was nominated. Thank you for showing faith in me and bestowing the honour. Cricket has given so many things to me. I want to give something back to cricket in the latter part of my life." Sachin also said that he will try to give something not only to cricket but also to the other sports of the country. “I am here because of my cricketing career. So, at this moment my priority would be cricket. I would be happy if I am remembered for contributing to all sports rather than just for my cricket statistics.”
