Chennai: Adopting a guarded approach, BCCI President N Srinivasan on Monday declined to comment on the Supreme Court-instituted Justice Mudgal committee`s report which indicted his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan in the IPL betting and spot-fixing scandal.
"I have not read the report," was his reply as evaded all queries by reporters here on the Mudgal Committee report. Srinivasan was addressing the media to announce the quarterly results of the India Cements Ltd in his capacity as its Vice-Chairman and Managing Director. The India Cements Ltd is the owner of IPL Franchisee Chennai Super Kings. Srinivasan had earlier defended Meiyappan, calling him merely a "cricket enthusiast". Srinivasan requested the mediapersons to confine their queries to India Cements Q3 financial results. In a major embarrassment to Srinivasan, the three-member committee headed by former Punjab and Haryana Chief Justice Mukul Mudgal held that the role of Meiyappan in Chennai Super Kings as the team official and the allegations of betting and passing of information against him stand proved.
