On Umar Akmal, Ahmed Shehzad's sacking: Shahid Afridi welcomes PCB's move to give chance to youngsters

New Delhi: Soon after Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sacked two senior players in Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad, Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi welcomed the move by the board.

Afridi, who recently stepped down as Pakistan's T20I skipper, took to Twitter to hail the move.

The flamboyant right-hander further added that he is keen on playing county cricket for a while to make a comeback back into the team.

Earlier on Monday, the new selection committee headed by Inzamam-ul-Haq announced the probables, which also did not feature Afridi as Pakistan would be playing only one Twenty20 during the tour.

"Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal have not been included in the training camp taking into view their past disciplinary record," Inzamam told a media conference in Lahore.

"Neither is their discipline good nor their recent performances consistent and impressive," he said.

Afridi was also not included in the list of 35 probables announced for the camp to be set up this month.
