Pak likely to continue with Intikhab as cricket coach on NZ tour

Pune: Pakistan`s first One-day International captain, Intikhab Alam, will continue to be the team manager on New Zealand tour, according to sources.

Sources in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed that the board`s chairman, Ejaz Butt, is `very keen` to continue with the non-controversial Intikhab for next year`s World Cup to be hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, The Nation reported.

Currently occupying the chair at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore, Intikhab had replaced Ejaz Butt`s close-friend Yawar Saeed as manager for the UAE tour, it added.

On October 25, 2008, he was named as national coach of the Pakistan cricket team, a day after Australian Geoff Lawson was sacked from the position.

Meanwhile, the PCB has applied visas for all probables, including the senior players who have been dropped now.

Pakistan will play three Twenty20s, Two Tests and six ODIs during the New Zealand tour commencing on December 23.
