Pak team for Zimbabwe tour in selection conundrum

As the Pakistan Cricket Board prepares to resolve its own crisis, selection of the national team for the Zimbabwe tour later this month is currently next on the list, with officials still unclear on what would happen next.

Islamabad: As the Pakistan Cricket Board prepares to resolve its own crisis, selection of the national team for the Zimbabwe tour later this month is currently next on the list, with officials still unclear on what would happen next.
Pakistan are scheduled to play two Tests, three One-Day Internationals and one Twenty20 during the sojourn that is expected to kick off by the end of this month. PCB interim chairman Najam Sethi had named former captain Moin Khan to replace Iqbal Qasim who resigned after announcing the squads for the recently concluded tour of the Caribbean, a report said. However, the Islamabad High Court`s (IHC) orders termed Sethi`s decisions null and void due to his `caretaker` role while the PCB has appealed the decision and is awaiting the response, the report added. A PCB official said that the selection of the national team required a proper protocol and the board would be plagued by problems in the absence of a chief selector, adding that the tour was ideal for giving new faces an opportunity.
