Mumbai, June 30: A good family background and series of unfinished projects are the basis sought by actor Shiney Ahuja for seeking an immediate bail. Even though the DNA report of the actor has confirmed that he sexually assaulted his 18-yr-old maid, Shiney seems to be unfazed. Despite the strong evidence against him, the actor feels that he deserves to be given bail as there is huge moolah ridding on his flicks. In remand till July 2nd, Ahuja moved the Sessions Court for bail on grounds that ‘he is from a good family’ and that some of his films are only half done and ‘need to be completed’. The actor stated that he was from a respectable army background and the absence of any criminal antecedents against him as the ground of his bail. Besides this, the actor also urged for an immediate release as most of his films are incomplete. Confirming the news, a daily quoted Shiney’ s lawyer Shrikant Shivade as saying, “Ahuja’s bail application mentions four main grounds: He has no criminal antecedents, he is from a good family, the trial could take a long time which may affect his unfinished films.” The application would now be heard on July 3. As for his unfinished projects, there are several films like ‘Accident’ with Soha Ali Khan, ‘Chaloo Movie’ and ‘Har Pal’ with Preity Zinta that now standstill. And even though the actor’s plea might have influenced a favourable result, it now seems unlikely that he will be granted a bail as the forensic report puts the actor on the back foot. Speaking to reporters, a senior FSL official said, “Any other analysis has space for doubt but not the DNA. Two people can never have the same DNA fingerprint. We got favourable results as the police were prompt in obtaining and sending us samples before they were washed away by the victim”. Confirming the news, DCP (Zone IX) Niket Kaushik said, “The DNA report in the case supports the FIR. Ahuja’s DNA has matched with that of the semen found in the victim’s vaginal swab.”
