Lahore: The Pakistan cricket Board on Wednesday called retired one-day team captain Shahid Afridi for a disciplinary hearing on Thursday after receiving a letter from him confirming that he had withdrawn his petition from the Sindh High Court.
"Afridi has been advised to appear before the disciplinary committee at 3.00 PM," a board official said.
The official said the decision to call Afridi for the hearing came after the board got a letter from his lawyers confirming he had withdrawn his petition against the disciplinary procedure from the Sindh High Court and consented to appear before the commitee constituted by the board.
According to sources during Tuesday`s meeting, the PCB chairman Ijah Butt had relented and assured Senators involved in arranging the meeting that once Afridi fulfilled the conditions he would be given a NOC to play abroad.
However, sources said Afridi might need to pay a penalty.
"Butt has assured the Senators NOC will be issued to Afridi. But he also made it clear that Afridi might have to face a financial penalty from the disciplinary committee before the case is closed," the source said.
