Islamabad: New Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Zaka Ashraf has been trying to convince the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to support the restoration of international cricket in his country.

Ashraf also said that he had asked his Bangladeshi counterpart, Mustafa Kamal, to send the Bangladesh team to Pakistan next year for their future tour programme series.

The PCB chief said that he had assured the ICC and the Bangladesh board that Pakistan would have foolproof security for the Bangladesh team and all security measures would be put in place with consultation of ICC experts and advisors.

“We will have bullet proof vehicles for the teams and the routes on which the teams travel between their hotel and ground would be sealed off when they are passing through it,” the Daily Times quoted Ashraf, as saying.

International cricket has been suspended in Pakistan since terrorists attacked the Sri Lankan team’s bus in Lahore in March 2009, which left eight people dead and seven visiting players and their assistant coach wounded.
