Petersen ‘sick and tired’ of explaining his stint in IPL

London: England batsman Kevin Petersen has said he is sick and tired of explaining his participation the Indian Premier League, which according to him is the best tournament in cricket.
Petersen spent the last three weeks with the Delhi Daredevils franchise in the lucrative IPL, and performed magnificently for the Delhi-based franchise. The South Africa-born batsman has been criticized for choosing the IPL over preparing for England’s Test series against the West Indies. The playing conditions, pitches and weather in England are completely different from the sub continental conditions, but Petersen believes his preparation for the upcoming Test series is well on track. “It`s plain and simple. I`m sick and tired of having to defend myself about going to the IPL every year,” Sports24 quoted Petersen, as saying. “It`s something that`s there which all the best players in the world play in. There is no need to defend myself. I will play in the IPL, it`s the best tournament going, and that`s the way it is,” he added. Pietersen, who cut short his IPL spell so as to make himself available for England, insisted no one should ever doubt his loyalties. “I love playing for England. It`s the best. Everyone says it`s a shame missing out on the IPL for the rest of the series. Yes it is, but I`m playing the best form of cricket next week,” Petersen said. “I`m playing in a Test match at Lord`s. Growing up as a kid, that`s the sort of thing you dream of,” he added. ANI
