Bhubaneswar: Impressive return of left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha into the test cricket with a haul of six for 72 in the first innings against West Indies at the Ferozshah Kotla stadium at Delhi did not surprise his father Maheswar Ojha.
"After being out of national reckoning for about one year, Pragyan was waiting for an opportunity to prove his mettle. He did that today", a beaming Maheswar told reporters. "We hope he will repeat similar feat in the future as well. He was, a bit, under pressure after being overlooked. I had advised him not to dishearten and wait for the right opportunity. When the opportunity comes, utilise it properly", he said. Pragyan`s last test appearance was against New Zealand at Nagpur In November 2010. After being out of the reckoning for national duty, he went for a stint with Surrey in the English county cricket. Meanwhile, ecstasy pervaded the frenzied fans who glued on to the TV to watch the Odisha lad finish off the visitor`s innings with aplomb. Cricket fans burst crackers amidst unabated clapping to celebrate Ojha`s maiden six wicket haul who restricted the Caribbeans to 304 in their first innings. PTI
