Prospects of batting with Tendulkar excite Levi
New Delhi: South Africa`s new batting sensation, Richard Levi, is excited at the prospect of batting alongside Sachin Tendulkar in the upcoming Indian Premier League.
Ignored by the franchises in the IPL auction in February despite a base price of just USD 50,000, Levi burst into the limelight after bludgeoning his way to a 51-ball 117 in a T20 match against New Zealand, forcing Mumbai Indians to ink a deal with the 24-year-old.
Following his brutal assault on the New Zealanders, he became a hot property with Mumbai Indians and Pune Warriors chasing the batsman, but Levi opted for the former that has given him a chance to open the batting with Tendulkar.
"I think it is going to be amazing. They (the crowd) won`t be cheering for me, they will be cheering for their `little master`, but I think it`s going to be amazing ... I think the first time I do it, it could be a bit of a shock," Levi was quoted as saying by a cricket web portal.
"I might have big eyes and that sort of stuff but it is going to be amazing to walk out and see a crowd that passionate and wanting you to do well," he added.
Levi said his success in the IPL would depend on how quickly he can adapt to the conditions in the Indian sub-continent.
"I spoke to a couple of guys (in the South African team) and they said if you can master (Indian) conditions, you can play anywhere in the world," he said.
