Proteas looking to IPL to prepare for 2012 World T20
Mumbai: After their disappointing show in the World Cup, South African players are looking at the Indian Premier League, starting on Friday, to prepare for the next year`s ICC World Twenty 20 in Sri Lanka.
As many as 22 South African players are part of the IPL, kicking off in Chennai with clash between reigning champions Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders.
"This takes place in Sri Lanka in a year`s time and most of the contenders for squad places will have the ideal chance to start preparing at the fourth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) which starts on Friday," the release said.
Twenty of the 22 players in the IPL were either bought during January auctions or retained by their original franchises while Ryan McLaren of the Chevrolet Knights and David Miller of the Nashua Dolphins were late pickings by the Kings XI Punjab.
