Panjim: Former India left-arm spinner Raghuram Bhat has been appointed the new coach of the Goa Ranji team for the forthcoming season.
Bhat, who replaces Rajesh Kamath, will coach the state side for two years.
Making the announcement, Goa Cricket Association president, Dayanand Narvekar said that this would be the last time that an outstation coach is being hired and two years from now the onus will be on Goan coaches.
Narvekar also said that they have decided to cut down the number of outstation players from three to one from this year.
He mentioned that this season they have tough opponents, with teams like Maharashtra in the group, and hence the preparations would start early.
The GCA has decided to begin the preparatory camp from July 15.
