Dhaka: Rain washed out play for a third straight day in the second and final Test between Bangladesh and South Africa at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Dhaka on Sunday.

Match officials called off the fourth day`s play at 1:05 pm local time (0705 GMT) without the teams having taken to the field following continuous heavy showers.

Not a single ball was bowled on the second and third days either because of the weather, after Bangladesh reached 246-8 in their first innings on the opening day.

The highlight of the second Test so far has been South African pacer Dale Steyn`s 3-30, which enabled him to become just the 13th cricketer in history to claim 400-plus Test wickets.

The first Test in Chittagong ended in a draw after rain washed out play on the last two days.
