RCA announces cash award of Rs 1.3 cores for the winning team

Chennai: The Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) on Monday announced a cash award of Rs 1.3 crore for the State team that won the Ranji Trophy title for the second consecutive year.

The BCCI has also announced a cash prize of Rs 2 crore for the team after they successfully defended the Ranji Trophy by virtue of first-innings lead against Tamil Nadu, at the Chepauk, here today.

The president of the RCA and the central minister C P Joshi made the announcement after the prize distribution ceremony.

"I am immensely pleased by the performance of the team and RCA has decided to honour the players with a cash award of Rs 1.3 crore," said the minister.

"In addition, I would also convince the State Government to announce some award for the team," he added.

Stating that the boys played brilliant cricket, the minister said, "But we too gave them confidence by not interfering with the team."

Meanwhile, the officiating secretary of the RCA, K K Sharma said that he would insist the state government to provide the state cricket association with all the help to build a world class stadium in Jaipur.

"I am proud of our boys who after being down for first five matches came back strongly to lift the title for the second consecutive time," said Sharma.

"It is a big moment for RCA and for whole sports fraternity of Rajasthan. I will insist that the state government extends all possible help in our effort to build a world class stadium in Jaipur," he added.
