New Delhi: Sachin Tendulkar had already retired from ODIs and his retirement from Test cricket is certainly the end of an era for Indian cricket.
Master Blaster on Thursday announced his retirement from Test cricket informing that he would play his last match in November against West Indies in a two-match home series.
Players like Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman have already retired from all formats of the game. All these four were known as ‘fab four’ for Indian cricket and were the pillars of Indian team for almost a decade.
These batting maestros helped India to touch new heights in Test cricket. It was certainly the golden period of Indian batting line up. With Sachin and Sourav opening the innings for the country and then Dravid and Laxman came to bat in the middle order. It is a dream lineup for any team.
Even in ODIs, Ganguly-Tendulkar duo is believed to be one of the best opening pairs of all time.
Tendulkar has many cricketing records to his name -- be it having the most number of Test centuries or playing the most number of Test matches.
Every good thing comes to an end and with Tendulkar’s retirement, the adage seems just perfect.
