Mumbai: Sachin Tendulkar, who is to retire from Tests next month after playing his landmark 200th match at the Wankhede Stadium here, on Tuesday presented trophies to winners of a simulator-based inter-school cricket tournament.
"It`s great to see such intelligent integration of technology with cricket. I`m a big fan of the Smaaash Cricket Simulator and tournaments like this will go a long way in development of these budding cricketers," said the cricket great while awarding the trophies.
The winners of the trophies were IES Raja Shivaji (Boys U-14), BAK Swadhyay Bhavan (Boys U-16) and his old school Shardashram Vidyamandir (Girls U-16).
The simulator-based tournament ? powered by Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) - concluded last week.
`Smaaash`, a first of its kind interactive entertainment zone, in association with Mumbai Indians played host to this unique tournament which saw more than 45 schools across the city challenge for the shield in U-14 and U-16 category.
"This is a dream come true for me. I was delighted with my performance in this tournament but to get the trophy from Sachin, is the biggest honour possible," said Shreyas Dalvi, winner in U-16 category with IES Raja Shivaji and also the highest individual scorer.
