Mumbai: Sachin Tendulkar got out for 18 in the World Cup final against Sri Lanka here Saturday and missed out on being the highest run-getter in the tournament.
Sachin edged a Lasith Malinga delivery to wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara to fell 19 runs short of Sri Lankan opener Tillakaratne Dilshan`s 500 runs in the tournament. Tendulkar ended his Cup campaign with 482 runs from nine matches.
Sachin will have to wait for his hundredth international century.
Sachin, a veteran of six World Cups, was the leading run-getter in the 1996 and 2003 editions.
