New Delhi: Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli were known to be very close friends during their playing days. But all that seems to be a thing of the past now. While talking exclusively to Zee Media, Vinod Kambli revealed that the two have not met for the last seven years. “I haven’t heard Sachin’s sound for a long time and it hurts me. It’s been seven long years and we haven’t met with each other. In between we just shared few text messages and that’s all. It seems as if we have become enemies now,” Kambli said. However, Kambli said that he felt bad and became emotional when he saw Sachin crying during his farewell ceremony on November 16. “My eyes also welled up with tears when I saw my friend crying at Wankhede, during his last match.” Kambli is still hopeful that he and Tendulkar can be friends again. “I have always supported him as a friend and as a cricketer. I never stated anything wrong behind his back. I still feel we can be friends once again,” he said. Kambli further added, “We have shared many good memories in the past. We played together, had fun for 30 long years. And even if I get a call from Sachin now, we can be friends again and you could see me right behind him.” Sachin bid a tearful adieu to international cricket after playing for India for 24 years. His last match was on his home soil in Mumbai against the West Indies. At the end of the match the batting legend made a speech in which he thanked his family, friends, teammates and many others who had been a part of his cricketing journey. However, his childhood friend Vinod Kambli did not find a mention in Sachin`s speech.
