New Delhi: Even after retirement, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar continues to break records and set new benchmarks. The 41 year old's latest achievement came off the field as his autobiography “Playing It My Way” accumulated the highest pre-orders in the fiction and non-fiction category in India.
Tendulkar's book overtook Steve Jobs' biography (by Walter Isaacson) as the best-selling book in India. The cricketer managed this feat in less than day of the book being launched in Mumbai.
As per the MD of Hachette India, Thomas Abraham 1,50,000 copies of the master's autobiography had been pre-ordered as of Wednesday while the original print orders for the book were 1,10,000 copies.
However, the former India batsman is unlikely to surpass the book sales of Chetan Bhagat and Amish Tripathi in the mass market paperback category.
Tendulkar's book has a cover price of Rs 899 and is available for half that price by online retailers.
