New Delhi: Sahara Group chairman Subrata Roy would meet the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president N Srinivasan today, Thursday, to come to an amicable solution over the IPL franchisee Pune Warriors and the sponsorship withdrawal. “BCCI president Srinivasan will meet Roy. The aim of the meeting is to try and find a solution to the contentious issues because of which Sahara decided to withdraw its IPL team,” a top BCCI official said. The BCCI is learnt to have been anxious over retaining Sahara as the owners of the IPL team Pune Warriors due to lack of quick sponsors for the franchisee after most of the more established teams were doing bad business. “BCCI can’t afford to lose Pune Warriors at the moment. Getting a replacement will be tough,” a member of governing council said on condition of anonymity. The BCCI chief had earlier indicated that there was a possibility of both sides finding a middle ground. “They might have felt aggrieved and did not get what they wanted from the IPL. We have had good relationships and so we should sort out the issues,” Srinivasan had said.
