London: Captain Darren Sammy has been fined 80 percent of this match fee as punishment for the West Indies` slow over-rate during the Lord`s Test, which ended Monday.

His players were also hit with 40 percent fines after match referee Roshan Mahanama adjudged the Caribbean side to be four overs short of its target, when "time allowances were taken into consideration."

If Sammy is found guilty again within the next 12 months, he will be slapped with a one-match suspension.

"In accordance with the ICC Code of Conduct regulations governing minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 percent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount," the International Cricket Council statement said.

The West Indies lost the opening Test at Lord`s by five wickets, an hour before tea on the final day.

They will travel to Nottingham Tuesday for the second Test at Trent Bridge starting Friday.
