Saurav Ganguly welcomes Harbhajan Singh recallKolkata: Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly today welcomed the national selectors` decision to recall off-spinner Harbhajan Singh for the first two Tests of the upcoming series against Australia.

"It`s a good decision to bring him back into the side. I`ve always been hopeful of Bhajji. But it`s the skipper (MS Dhoni) whether he would play in the XI," Ganguly said at Eden Gardens after the CAB`s working committee meeting.

Asked about Gautam Gambhir`s omission, Ganguly said, "It`s normal to be left out when you`re not doing well. But I`m confident he would do well to make a comeback."

India might have lost to England in their last Test series at home, but Ganguly said the hosts would have the edge against Australia.

"Both the teams are going through a transition phase. India will have the slight home advantage to win the series. But it all depends how they utilise the conditions," he said.

"But you would have do well. It`s important for the youngsters as India have a busy Test schedule ahead."

Wishing luck to Sachin Tendulkar, Ganguly said, "Hope he does well for India, it`s high time to fire up for him."

Ganguly also welcomed the selection of Bengal pacer Ashok Dinda who is yet to get his maiden Test cap.

"Dinda has been a India regular in ODI and T20 formats. It`s good to see him in Test squad. He needs to be accurate in the longer version of the game," he said.
