Sehwag doubtful for West Indies clash
Chennai: The chances of Virender Sehwag missing out on India’s match against West Indies on Sunday became even stronger as the opening batsman continued to stay away from the team’s practice due to a knee injury.
Skipper MS Dhoni has admitted that the opener is fighting a knee injury due to an allergic reaction. Dhoni, however, said a decision regarding Sehwag’s participation in the final group stage match against West Indies would be taken on Sunday only.
Meanwhile, Dhoni hinted at some changes in the squad for the last group game against West Indies, saying he would like to give opportunity to all the players in the group matches.
Bangladesh’s loss against South Africa on Saturday assures India of a place in the quarterfinals and Sunday’s match could well be used as warm-up for the knockout stages ahead. Indications are that local boy R Ashwin could be given a chance to make his World Cup debut. A place for Suresh Raina for the out of form Yusuf Pathan also cannot be ruled out.
