Sehwag, Yusuf would be the trump cards: Roger Binny
Jaipur: Opener Virendra Sehwag and all-rounder Yusuf Pathan would be the trump cards for Team India in the forthcoming World Cup, feels former cricketer Roger Binny.
"We have a balanced side and the home conditions and advantage would also suit us but I feel that the swashbuckling opener Virendra Sehwag and Yusuf Pathan might be the trump cards for the team India," Binny told reporters during a function at the RCA academy where the World Cup trophy was displayed.
"A left arm spinner could have been an added advantage but still the Indian batting has the fire power to bring the world cup back to us.”
"We bat low down till eight and even the number nine batsman Habhajan Singh can hit some lusty blows. We have the capability of adding more than 100 runs in last 10 overs," said Binny, who had played a crucial role in India`s 1983 historic World Cup victory by taking 18 wickets.
Not reading much into the fact that skipper MS Dhoni is the lone wicket keeper in the squad, Binny said that the Indian skipper and the think tank must have given it a proper thought.
"Dhoni himself is an experienced guy and knows his limitations and also the Indian think tank perhaps thought that he was capable of taking on the load of keeping the entire World Cup," said Binny, who took 47 wickets in 27 Tests and scalped 77 batsmen in 72 ODIs.
