Karachi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi has reportedly played a key role in narrowing the differences between chief selector-cum-manager Moin Khan and leading head coach candidate Waqar Younis amid rumours of conflict between the two.
Sethi, who knows the fact that during the past both Younis and Khan have not exactly enjoyed very cordial relations, reportedly made a determined effort to bring the two former captains closer since both would have to work in close proximity for improving Pakistan`s national cricket future. According to the Dawn, sources in the PCB said that Younis is quite close to Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq , which might be a bit worrisome for Khan who as chief selector and manager will be the main person responsible for picking up national squads for the upcoming tours as well as having a say in the composition of playing eleven in matches. However, an anonymous PCB official has revealed that Khan would not be in a strong position to dictate terms to both Haq and Younis despite his current status under Sethi. The official said that since Khan is a member of the coach-finding committee, he would have to be discreet in his stance and will have to back Younis if the former pacer finally becomes the head coach.
