New Delhi: In a shocking development, young England batsman James Taylor announced his retirement from cricket following the discovery of a serious heart condition.
The 26-year-old missed Nottinghamshire's pre-season fixture against Cambridge MCC with what appeared at the time a viral condition.
However, scans revealed that the right-hander is in fact suffering from Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Arrhythmia (ARVC), and needs an operation.
Taking to social micro-blogging site Twitter, Taylor called it the toughest week of his life.
Safe to say this has been the toughest week of my life! My world is upside down. But I'm here to stay and I'm battling on! #lifestooshort
