Shreyas, Parthiv centuries light up Buchi Babu cricket tourney

Chennai: Fine centuries from Mumbai batsman Shreyas Iyer and former Indian keeper Parthiv Patel, playing for Gujarat, lit up the third round of the ongoing Buchi Babu Memorial Cricket tournament here on Thursday.

If Shreyas`s 133 helped Mumbai post 379 in 88.5 overs against TNCA City XI then Parthiv`s 100 off 86 balls gave Gujarat (305 in 87.2 overs) the upper hand against Hyderabad (33/1 in 10 overs).

Shreyas 133 (165b, 12X4, 4X6) and Arham Jaffar 61 (114b, 7X4, 1X6) put on 114 runs in 206 balls for the 4th wicket against TNCA City while Parthiv stitched a 113-run partnership off 120 balls with Chirag Gandhi (36) to put his team in a strong position.

Brief Scores: UPCA 338 all out in 99.5 overs (Himanshu Asnora 58, Umang Sharma 87, Akshdeep Nath 97, Kuldeep Hooda three for 61, Rahul Tewatia three for 91) vs Haryana.

Mumbai 379 allout in 88.5 overs (Shreyas Iyer 133, Arham Jaffar 61, R. Aushik Srinivas four for 112, M.Siddharth three for 79) vs TNCA City XI 11 for one in nine overs.

Gujarat 305 allout in 87.2 overs (Priyank Panchal 49, Samit Gohil 35, Parthiv Patel 100. Chirag Gandhi 36, Pragyan Ojha five for 104, Mehdi Hasan three for 76) vs Hyderabad 33 for one in 10 overs.

Baroda 334 for nine in 100 overs (Mrunal Devdhar 53, Hitesh Solanki 33, Pratyush Kumar Kumar 36, Sahil Gupta 37, Sagar Manglorkar 51, Chirag Desai 27, Monish four for 83, Sabid Faruqe five for 120 vs Kerala.

TNCA President`s XI 342 all out in 92.4 overs (Abhinav Mukund 132, M. Sharukh Khan 54, Sri Vasudeva Das 45, W Antony Dhas 66 not out, D. Swaroop Kumar four for 89, Vision Panchal three for 69 vs Andhra 48 for two in 17 overs.

Assam 258 all out in 77.4 Overs (Sib Sankar Roy 41, J Syed Mohammed 74 not out, Abu Nechim Ahmed 52, Mukesh Kumar four for 74, Amit Banerjee three for 45] vs Bengal 69 for no loss in 20 overs (Arindam Das 43 not out).
