Smith targets Pak series after ankle surgery
Johannesburg: South African Test captain Graeme Smith is confident about being ready for the nation`s upcoming cricket series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates, starting on October 14, after undergoing a surgery to his left ankle in May.
According to Sport24, the Proteas take on Pakistan in a two-Test series, before five ODIs and two T20 Internationals.
Smith said that he had a stress fracture that had two pins put in, and it was still an ongoing process, adding that there were some good weeks and then others where it was a little bit sore.
The captain has been in rehabilitation and felt confident after the next few weeks in the gym, he would be fit enough to compete against Pakistan, the report said.
He said that he was still on target to be ready for October, and after the present week, he would have three weeks of really hard graft ahead of him.
