New Delhi: The Proteas have a chance to reclaim the number one ODI ranking, during their New Zealand sojourn, in which they are schedule to play three-match ODI series, starting from Wednesday.

At the moment Australia are at the zenith of the ODI ranking with 114 ratings, whereas, South Africa are placed at the third spot, just behind the world champions India. Though, India and South Africa have equal number of ratings (113), due to less points than the Men in Blue, they have to satisfy with the third place.

If under the captaincy of AB de Villiers, South Africa manage to win all the three matches against New Zealand, then they would reclaim the top ODI ranking. The last time Proteas reached at the top of the charts was way back in 2009.

However, if New Zealand win the series, then the Black Caps will leapfrog Pakistan into sixth position.
